Attempting to acquire and assemble compatible components for switching the XRAY warning and EXAM room ambient light can be challenging. SIEMENS has changed the official specifications to include a DC power supply and freewheeling diodes for circuit protection. Using relays and components that are not ideally matched can result in numerous issues including damaging the xray equipment, introducing EMF into the xray equipment and possibly causing malfunctions, unreliable lighting control and excessive audible noise from the switching relays. What appears to be a simple connection can turn out to be hundreds of dollars wasted, multiple recall service visits and many wasted man hours from electricians and service engineers.
